“This is more than a story. It is a lifeline.”

This book is nothing short of extraordinary. From the very first page, it captivates with a raw honesty that leaves readers deeply moved and profoundly seen.

What sets this book apart is its alignment with trauma-informed principles and nervous system healing. The insights feel clinically sound yet accessible, creating a framework that is both validating and empowering for women navigating silent treatment abuse and relationship trauma.

A powerful reminder that healing from emotional abuse is possible—and that restoration and strength can emerge.

The silent treatment is a form of emotional abuse that creates anxiety, confusion, and chronic stress in relationships.

The silent treatment is a form of emotional abuse that creates anxiety, confusion, and chronic stress in relationships.

For a long time, I thought it was miscommunication.
Or stress. Or something I needed to fix in myself.

But patterns like silence, emotional withdrawal, and confusion have an impact.
And over time, they can leave you questioning your own reality.

This work begins with understanding what’s actually happening so you can stop second-guessing yourself and start trusting what you feel.

your next step.

The Shift

When you start to see what’s been happening clearly, things begin to shift.

You stop second-guessing yourself.

You begin to trust what you feel instead of overriding it.

You gain language for what you’ve been experiencing.

You understand what’s actually happening, without minimizing it.

You process the grief of what you hoped things would be.

You step into your own power.

You create the spectacular life that you and your children deserve.

The Story Behind The Work

I built a life that looked right on paper.

I earned degrees from Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, and Wharton. I built a career in law and finance. I wore my hair a certain way. I married someone who checked all the boxes: culture, race, education, religion, and status.

From the outside, everything made sense.

I earned degrees from Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, and Wharton. I built a career in law and finance. I wore my hair a certain way. I married someone who checked all the boxes: culture, race, education, religion, and status.

From the outside, everything made sense.

But inside, something was off.

I found myself in environments where I was expected to ignore what I knew to be true. Over time, that disconnect took a toll. I experienced what it means to lose your voice slowly, to question your own perception, and to stay longer than you should because leaving feels harder than enduring.

I had to disrupt the identity I had been taught to maintain, and learn to trust myself instead.

I went from making myself small to building a life rooted in peace and truth.

That’s why I do this work.

Because not all harm is loud.
Some of it shows up in silence, withdrawal, and confusion.

And when you don’t have language for it, you stay stuck in it.

My work exists to change that.

About Ama

Ama K. Karikari, Esq. was born in New York City to Ghanaian parents who taught her the power of hard work, faith, and community. Today, she channels those values into helping women reclaim their voices, their peace, and their power.

Ama is a transformational guide for mothers healing from chronic silent treatment, toxic relationships, and emotional abuse. After leaving her own marriage in 2023, when she recognized that prolonged emotional neglect was impacting her well-being, and after finalizing her divorce, she made a powerful decision to turn her pain into purpose.

Her work is rooted in lived experience, deep reflection, and a commitment to helping other women break free from cycles of silence, confusion, and self-doubt.

Through her writing, courses, and restorative circles, Ama creates safe, empowering spaces where mothers can process their experiences, rebuild their confidence, and begin to thrive. She speaks candidly about the subtle and often invisible forms of emotional abuse that many women endure, offering both validation and a clear path forward.

Ama holds degrees from Harvard University, The Wharton School, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and previously built a successful career spanning finance, law, and entrepreneurship. Her unique background allows her to combine analytical clarity with emotional intelligence in a way that resonates deeply with the women she serves.

She is also a celebrated children’s author, with books including Sunne’s Gift, Earthe’s Gift, The Talk: A Black Family’s Conversation about Police Brutality, Freedom Day: A Juneteenth Activity Book for Kids, and Fairytale Land vs. Goldilocks, reflecting her lifelong passion for storytelling, identity, and healing.

Silenced to Soaring is a powerful and highly insightful workbook for women recovering from the invisible wounds of emotional abuse and its psychological, relational, and even physical consequences.

Ama Karikari gently but firmly guides women through grief, identity loss, childhood pattern reenactments, and the process of rebuilding after toxic or narcissistic relationship patterns.

The exercises encourage profound self-reflection, emotional regulation, and empowerment. Silenced to Soaring supports women navigating divorce, separation, and major life transitions.

  • “Shining a light on a major blind spot: the silent treatment as emotional abuse.”

This book truly surprised me. Silenced to Soaring highlights a critical gap in the conventional understanding of domestic violence—the silent treatment.

With grace, vision, and uncommon wisdom, Karikari names a form of emotional abuse that is often hidden in secrecy and shame.

A deeply soulful exploration of grief, identity, and healing, this book is for the woman ready to break free from toxic patterns and tell a new story about herself.
